THE ROOT OF THE VIBE
WHAT IS KAVA?
Kava is a traditional South Pacific drink made from the root of the Piper methysticum plant — calm, social, and completely alcohol-free. Here's everything a first-timer needs to know.
HOW WE SERVE IT
Traditional Shell
The classic Pacific ceremonial serving — pure kava root prep in a coconut-style shell. Earthy, grounding, authentic.
Kava Mocktails
Kava blended with tropical flavors — the Kava Mule, Kava Sunrise, Island Mojito, and more. The approachable way in.
Ceremonial Bowl
An 80 oz shared kava bowl for your whole crew — group ritual at its finest.
FIRST-TIMER FAQ
What does kava feel like?
Kava produces a calm, clear-headed relaxation — social ease without intoxication. Most people feel a warm, grounded calm within 15–30 minutes. A mild tingling or numbing of the lips and tongue is normal and a sign of quality kava.
Is kava alcoholic? Will it get me drunk?
No. Kava is completely alcohol-free and does not cause intoxication. It relaxes the body while keeping the mind clear — no fog, no hangover.
What does kava taste like?
Earthy and a little bitter — kava is not a fruit punch. That's why Moon Mountain also serves crafted kava mocktails like the Kava Mule, Kava Sunrise, and Island Mojito that make the experience smooth and approachable.
How should I order my first kava?
Tell the bar it's your first time — we love first-timers. Start with a traditional shell if you're adventurous, or a kava mocktail if you'd like something smoother. Kava is best on an empty or light stomach, and it doesn't mix with alcohol.
Is kava safe?
Kava has been consumed ceremonially in the South Pacific for centuries and is sold in the US as a dietary supplement. Enjoy it in moderation, skip it if you're pregnant or on medications that interact with it (ask your doctor), and don't combine it with alcohol.
