Moon Mountain Reviews: JUNO Pre-filled Pod System
Welcome back Lunartics! Today we're reviewing the JUNO Pre-filled Pod System!
As FDA regulations have come out targeting flavored pods - particularly those sold in convenience stores - the JUNO has arrived on the market as the pod system that aims to be the pod device that defines the vape shop experience. JUNO has gone out of its way to distinguish itself as the vape store pod system. Using pre-filled pods, it seems to be aiming to be the system that has staying power and the first real device to take a credible shot at the JUUL market at a time when the industry seems as though it will be heading back to the vape shop for the foreseeable future.
That's why we're reviewing this device. Does the JUNO stack up against competitors? Does it pass muster for the discerning tastes of the average vape store customer? We sat down to test the JUNO and find out.
The JUNO Kit
For this review, we reviewed the JUNO in the JUNO elements tobacco starter kit. The kit arrives in a cleanly, packaged and light box with the 380MAH JUNO battery, a micro-USB to USB charger, a user manual, a serial number card, a 1.6mL 36MG/ML JUNO Elements Tobacco pod, a 1.6mL 36MG/ML JUNO Elements Fruit pod and a 1.6mL 36MG/ML JUNO Elements Dessert pod.
The packaging for the JUNO is clean and compact, with little waste in the design and what appears to be fully recyclable packaging save for a couple plastic stickers meant to serve as security devices against tampering and shipping. The compact design also lends itself to a simple user experience from the moment the box is open.
The JUNO battery and pods eschew the sharp edges of its competitors for beveled edges that feel comfortable in your hand as well as your pocket. At roughly 4" long, the device isn't the most compact vape device on the market, but it definitely won't be getting lost as easily as other pod devices. Despite the length, it still has a lightweight feel coming in at around only 2 oz. while sporting a remarkably durable metal frame.
The JUNO Performance
Once we got through examining the packaging for the kit, we were able to jump right into using the device. The JUNO Starter Kit comes with a pod already inserted into the device, along with a charged battery, allowing us to start vaping immediately after opening the package.
Subsequent pods are contained in two plastic protectors that guard the metal connectors of the pod's atomizer system and the mouthpiece section respectively. They're a bit snug and can require a little extra finger strength to pry off. The pods themselves also fit very snugly in the JUNO pod system. It can take a little wiggling and some extra strength to get the pods in and out of the system, but this ended up being less of a problem than we anticipated as we never experienced any issues with the pods disconnecting or coming loose even after a full day outside in the Florida heat with the device in a sweaty pocket. It also survived several days in one of our Lunartic's purses without budging a millimeter.
With continuous use on a full charge, we found the JUNO's battery would last us through a full day's use and will go from empty to fully-charged in roughly 40 minutes.
The JUNO Vape Experience
The flavors we tested for the JUNO were the tobacco, fruit and dessert flavors from the Elements collection. All three flavors provided nice flavor hits without requiring long drags and the use of nic salts in the pods meant that they all carried a substantial nicotine hit without having to constantly hit the device.
Despite getting nice hits of flavor, the cloud production from the device isn't obnoxious. The device could easily be used on a night out on the town or in a vape shop. The cloud production isn't so small though that it would function as a "stealth" device, further distancing itself from other pod devices. The only main downside is that that pods will sometimes need a quick priming drag before it will be back up to 100% flavor production.
The JUNO Flavors
JUNO has a diverse range of flavors to choose from in their Elements, Signature and collaboration lines. However, the flavors we reviewed for this review were the tobacco, fruit and dessert flavors. The tobacco flavor leans on the creamy side and gave a smooth, pleasant aroma and flavor that melded surprisingly well with the 36MG nicotine strength.
The Dessert flavor was the most subtle flavor profile, also providing a creamy experience, but with less of a bite than the tobacco flavor. This left the bite of the nicotine to be more prominent and would be best as an after-dinner vape on a cool night.
The Fruit flavor stood out as the best of the bunch, with a balanced and sweet melon flavor that blends with the nicotine to produce a perfectly smooth vaping experience. It easily lasted us through the entire day without growing tired of the flavor profile.
The JUNO is primed to live up to its aim to be the vape store pod system. With an extensive flavor line-up, it's smart for JUNO to exist in a space where vape store customers can consult professionals they can trust when looking for the right flavors for them.
For the ease-of-use from setup to use and the quality of the experience, we would recommend JUNO to anyone looking for a pre-filled pod system.
